Free Rock Garden Tour Worth Seeing

1411 Rome Rd. SW, Calhoun, GA 30701

Really cool sculptures sit off the beaten path behind the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Calhoun, Georgia. It’s worth a stop to walk through the garden. The best attraction is the free admission to walk through the garden. It was built as a place for meditation on Scripture and prayer, but has become a national phenomenon. Actually, it began as a game they played of building miniatures which became a family tradition. Over time, they would not hold up in the weather and after a while, he created a method he still uses to this day of creating and preserving the miniatures. While he has built miniatures in other places, he built this one that has been a draw for visitors and their families across the south.

The artist, Mr. Dewitt "Bull Dog" Boyd, has shared his masterpieces with families who have come through. Profit was not the motive. His talent is truly a wonderful gift to provide for the community. Yet, it has been enjoyed by thousands of locals and visitors who have come through the area. One can walk through in about 30 minutes, but to appreciate the detail, it's worth spending a while looking at the architecture.. Be sure to bring your camera and take a few keepsake photographs. It’s definitely worth adding to your scrapbook. Kids enjoy meandering through the rock garden, but always follow safety guidelines. There are signs. There is plenty to enjoy during your visit, but they ask that no one climb on the miniatures. For more information: See the Calhoun GA Rock Garden facebook page.

Along the handmade path as it winds through the village, discover for yourself more than 50 miniatures. It may be a miniature castle surrounded by a mote, or the Roman Colosseum kids enjoy looking down inside or peeking in the opening. There are bridges across the creek bed. Plus, there are many other miniatures that are fun to observe and take pictures.
